Colloquial Colonial- AW15

Colonial times were, among many things, a period of exchange. As different cultures encountered each other, each looked for ways to adapt. Cuts, drapes, fabrics and silhouettes...when people borrowed fashion cues, it created a melange of styles that was unique to the subcontinent.
Public appearances were very regimented, with strict rules governing attire... But on their time off, the Colloquial Colonials wore garments of a very distinct Anglo- Indian style.

For our Autumn-Winter 2015 collection, we have looked at elements from this heady era- corsetry, draping, control of volume, delicate lace and the bejewelled nature of garments.

AW15J1 A double-fronted pinstripe and gold jacket with a cut-out back that adds a bit of flair to formals

AW15T1 A classic white top with a deep cut back. The play of lace on skin lining creates a faux sheer look. Comes with a separate white cape.

AW15T2 A cheeky grey and black shirt in cotton silk with a cut-away panel under the collar bone.

AW15T3 A flirty, layered top made from cotton silk, georgette and chiffon in a gradation of blue shades.

AW15T4 A blush cotton silk wrap top with an asymmetric front hemline and peach and maroon chiffon pleats

AW15D1 A straight cut, off-shoulder blue cotton silk dress with a navy chiffon drape and an embroidered shoulder strap.

AW15D2 The classic Little Black Dress with a lace bodice and a pleated double crepe skirt.

AW15D3 An elegant combination of form and grace, this dress features a corded bodice, structured skirt and airy peach chiffon shoulder-drapes. Comes with a fully embroidered belt.

AW15D4 A pinstriped dress that plays with lines to create a flattering silhouette. Ideal for day wear, it can also be jazzed up with a fully embroidered belt.

AW15G1 This maroon cotton silk corseted gown contours and flatters the figure while the peach chiffon drape adds a further dash of femininity.

AW15G4 A strapless white gown with a corded bodice and a full skirt of flowing satin. Wear it with an embroidered shoulder strap to add a dash of shine and colour.

AW15G2 A sophisticated grey lace dress with delicate floral hand embroidery down the entire length.

AW15G3 This elaborate black raw silk gown features our signature brick embroidery on a heavily embellished bodice, while the shaded chiffon hem frill balances the colours.

AW15K1 A shirt-style, half-and-half kurta that combines cotton silk and lace.

AW15K3 A pinstripe and peach kurta with front slits, to be worn over peach parallel pants.

AW15K2 An innovatively constructed blue cotton silk kurta with a peek-a-boo corded bodice.

AW15K4 A classy black kurta with brick embroidery accents and navy chiffon drapes.

AW15S1 A striking outfit that blends the look of a saree with the ease of a lehenga. It has an intricately embroidered corset top with an attached pallu and a shaded satin linen skirt with pleats.

AW15L1 A pretty blush and maroon lehenga. It has a full umbrella skirt in cotton silk with an embroidered hem and a part-sheer lace top.
